There, he was a four year varsity swimmer and captain of the team. He returned to Alabama for Medical School at UAB and finished his training in Family Medicine at the UAB-Huntsville Family Practice Residency Program, where he was Chief Resident and Residency President of the Alabama Academy of Family Physicians. He has a strong interest in sports medicine, especially as it relates to swimmers, cyclists, and runners. She, too, came back home for medical school and residency at UAB. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in sports medicine, and has a special interest in the non-operative treatment of acute and chronic sports injuries, as well as an interest in female athletes. She is an active ultimate frisbee player and runner, having competed at the marathon level.
